Aquathermie is a solution that helps governments meet the heat demand of residential areas, business parks and public buildings more sustainably. With heat from lakes, canals and other surface water, it becomes possible to generate energy locally. It lowers dependence on fossil fuels and reduces emissions.
How Wetterwaarmte helps
Wetterwaarmte offers support at every level. We work with governments to translate policy into concrete action. This starts with investigating the opportunities in a specific region. Where is the most potential and where do we apply which technology?
We also help with funding and subsidies, so that projects do not stagnate due to a lack of resources. We bring parties together, ensure support among residents and entrepreneurs and help build the necessary infrastructure. Together, we make the transition to sustainable heat feasible and affordable.

The potential of Fryslân's surface water is 35% of our heat demand. But Wetterwaarmte sees more opportunities. By betting on aquathermy now, we are not only building a sustainable heat source, but also knowledge and a sustainable infrastructure. By doing so, we attract new companies and talents and can play a leading role in this promising technology.
